Happy Hump Day, lovelies! Today, I'm sharing one of my new favorite recipes. I made it last night, and it will definitely be a staple in my meal prep from here on out! I adapted the recipe from Skinny Taste and made it my own. You can find the original recipe here! Alright, let's get started!
For the Veggies:
This week felt longer than most, and I can't be more excited to start the weekend after work today. To make it even better, it's Memorial Day weekend; the unofficial "kick-off" for summer. Most of us are taking road trips, seeing family, or spending a much-needed relaxation weekend. Whatever you're doing, I'm sure I'll have a suggestion of things to do for you in this post ;) Today, I'm sharing my Five Favorite Summer Activities (that you might not think of doing)!
drinks + dessert on the patio
After dinner, head to a restaurant with your girlfriends or S.O. for a drink and shared dessert! It's nice to hit restaurants after their busy hours because you can relax and enjoy time with the people you love instead of feeling rushed to get out the door, so the next table can be seated. If you're trying to save money (like me!), this one is also perfect for you. You'll save a lot of money (and calories), by eating at home then going for a shared dessert + drink than you would if you went to happy hour, had dinner, and then had dessert. Also, if you go past 9 or so , most restaurants have a "dessert deal" or happy hour starts again. Win. Win.
Be a Tourist in your own city
I'm pretty sure everyone says this, but it's such a great idea. We all get stuck in our same routines. We drive to work the same way. We eat at the same restaurants and often order the same things. We never really branch out and try new things because we are stressed or exhausted from everyday life. I'm guilty of it too. I have to push myself to cook new recipes, run different places, and go shopping at different stores. It's hard. But, that's also what makes it great. So, take an afternoon explore a place you've never been in your city, and then grab a bite to eat at a restaurant you've never been to. You never know, it might become one of your favorites!
Kayaking + Bike riding
If you live by any body of water, this is definitely a good idea for you! Most cities offer a place to rent kayaks or canoes for the day, so you can be out on the water. Not only is this good exercise, but I also believe it's great for the soul. Leave your cell-phone at home, and enjoy the peaceful silence of the water. My favorite times to go are at sunrise or sunset. There's something magical about watching the beautiful colors as you're kayaking through the water.
If you don't love being in the water, I equally enjoy renting bikes (or using your own) and explore new trails for an afternoon.
Picnics are one of my favorite things to do. This might be my number one suggestion from the list. Now that I've turned 21, I love them even more. What's better than packing up a great bottle of wine, cheeses, crackers, and fruits and spending the afternoon at the park or your favorite place? Not much if you ask me. After eating, you can take a nap or read a good book. Most people usually do this with friends or their S.O., but to be completely honest, I love going by myself. It's relaxing and reenergizing to have a little time to myself sometimes. I also love going to movies alone, so you might not want to take advice from me. ;)
Watching the sunrise
A lot of us make a point to watch sunsets during the summer. And, don't get me wrong, they are GORGEOUS. But, sunrises are, in my opinion, even more magical. So, wake up early one morning, brew your favorite coffee, grab your devotional/ a good book, and sit on your deck and watch the sunrise. Believe me, the experience of the day beginning and the the stillness of the morning might just turn you into a morning person.
I hope sharing my favorite summer activities gave you some inspiration to spend your summer soaking up the sun and making each day count. We only get so many warm summer days in SD, so make sure you're out living the life you love for each and every one of them.
Summer is quickly approaching, and we all see the light at the end of the tunnel with Memorial Day coming up this weekend. To celebrate the "real" beginning of summer, I'm sharing one of my favorite Memorial Day outfits, perfect for brunch, family gatherings, or a comfy day out and about.
This dress is such a versatile, classic piece. The length hits right above the knee on me (I'm 6'), but for most women it would be knee length or a little past the knee. The straps are adjustable (win in my book!), and you can also adjust the little bow in the front if it needs some adjusting due to your chest size. This allows you to really be able to make the dress a perfect fit for you, which I think is absolutely necessary for loving your clothing.
I finished the outfit off with a Pearly Girls necklace and bracelet. Pearls are a timeless piece of jewelry, and I love finding new ways to incorporate them into my wardrobe. If you're not a huge fan of pearls, you could opt for a statement necklace or tassle earrings.

Happy Monday, YBF lovelies!
I think some fashion inspiration is the best way to break a case of the Monday blues! This adorable outfit might cure any blues you have all week. I am in LOVE with this silk maxi from Knot Sisters that we just got in stock.
This silk maxi dress is detailed with a shirred neckline and a high/low hem for a stylish summer look perfect for any event. First, I styled the dress with our Tallulah wedges and Sable wristlet in Coral, which gave it the perfect look for a casual outdoor wedding, date night, baby shower, or bridal brunch.
The gold wedge gives it a pop of shimmer, while still looking like a neutral. This allows you to go all out with fun, colorful accessories. I paired the coral Sable wristlet with this outfit because I think coral goes well for almost any occasion, especially baby showers and weddings. I think bright blue tassel earrings would also be a darling way to add a pop of color into the outfit if you wanted to stick with a neutral bag.
Next, I styled the maxi with my favorite lace-up Sam Edelman heels. The suede, open-toed pumps are to DIE for. Seriously, they are the perfect summer heel. They dress the outfit up a little more, making it perfect for a formal wedding or summer work event. This definitely wouldn't be an everyday look for me, but I would definitely pair a pump with the maxi when you want a show-shopping look.
I love, love the monochromatic look I got by pairing the heels and maxi together, so when accessorizing I would stay with my simple Pandora bangles in silver and gold paired with a neutral cross-body bag with gold detailing. The gold detailing pairs perfectly with the shimmer in the silk material and will also tie in the Pandora bracelets to create the outfit that will be sure to turn heads.
Lastly, you can easily style this dress with a fun pair of slide-on sandals. Colorful sandals are all the rage right now, and I know why. Since neutrals are huge this season, everyone is adding colors to their outfits through their shoes. For a comfy, casual look with this maxi, jump on the color shoe trend. Find a pair of sandals in your favorite color, pair them with this dress, throw your hair in a top-knot, and you have a chic, effortless style perfect for any day of the week.
Keep the accessories minimal when going for this look. That way, it gives off the "oh, I just threw this on!" vibe, while you look like a million bucks. Effortless looks go a long way when trying to stay stylish, comfy, and casual during our busy schedules.
I hope these tips gave you some inspiration on how to style this gorgeous silk maxi. If you're in love, but don't have one yet, be sure to stop by the shoppe or shop online here to get yours today! We only have a few left, and we don't restock our items allowing customers to have unique pieces for their closets.
