This week at YBF, we are highlighting one of our amazing part-time ladies, Naomi! She's full of life, humor, and a whole lot of spunk. When she's not working, at school, or spending time with family, you'll most likely catch her at YBF! Here's what she what she had to say when I asked her a few questions.
Tell us about yourself
I’m currently attending Southeast Technical Institute and will be graduating in May with an Associate’s degree in Marketing and another Associate’s degree in Business Administration. I was born in Minneapolis and moved here when I was about 8. We wanted to be closer to my mom’s family in the Luverne, MN area. I have been working at Citibank full-time for 6 years now. I love going to movies, hanging out with my boyfriend, Derek and my fur babies Pedey and Vegas. I love shopping, trying new things and hanging out with my friends and family. I started at YBF in October just needing the extra income and I was beyond blessed to have gained another family.
3 things you can’t live without
What do you do at YBF?
I mainly work the sales floor and up until now I have been working on the old website. Now that we are switching things up, I can’t wait to dig into the new website! It will definitely be amazing.
What is your personal style?
I love going casual. Dressing up every once and awhile is fun but I love my leggings with boots and a cute shirt. If I could get away with wearing sweats every day, I would definitely do that though!
Where do you go to for style inspiration?
I love browsing Pinterest!
Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion?
Those sweet leggings with the stirrups! I remember wearing them all the time growing up. Keeps them from rolling up!
Favorite item in the store right now?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the home decor. I honestly cannot pick just one item. Ever since I started, I’ve had a mental wish list and I’m slowly getting there. The home decor is just unique.
Alex and Ani or Pandora? Why?
Alex and Ani. Although I love them both, the fact that virtually all of the bangles have a heartfelt meaning just make the brand more personable. I also love that you just stack the bangles instead of adding to them. I get so many compliments on mine!
What celebrity would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee?
I would have to say Ian Somerhalder. I initially learned about him when he started playing Damon on The Vampire Diaries but once I got past his eyes, I learned that he is involved in so many charities and foundations to help with animals, wildlife, and individuals that need the help. He’s just overall a great person!
Favorite Bible Verse?
"I have definitely had my ups and downs in life but whenever I feel like my world is crashing down, I turn to Him. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Three adjectives to describe yourself.
When are you happiest?
When I’m with my family, especially my mother. She’s my best friend. (And when I finish my homework for the week)
Craziest item on your bucket list?
I’ve always wanted to go skydiving! Typical response, I know. But the thrill of it is what makes me want to do it!
What are three career lessons you’ve learned from working at YBF?
I’ve worked in retail as long as I can remember. Customer service has definitely always been the best lesson. Watching our regular customers come in and interact with Tam and Danzi, it makes me feel beyond blessed to work for them. I have also learned to multi-task even better than before. You definitely have to prioritize your duties.
Favorite 3 brands at YBF?
I LOVE The Giving Keys! The story behind it is just plain inspirational. I also have developed an Alex and Ani addiction, as well as S’well.
Since YBF focuses heavily on brands that give back, what is the charity closest to your heart? Why?
This is definitely a hard question for me. I wish I could do so much more to help so many charities. I would have to say Children’s Miracle Network. I have always loved kids and working with them. I used to volunteer at Sanford and it’s definitely a heartbreaking experience at times but overall, the most rewarding by far.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?
I would LOVE to visit Greece!
Thanks for sharing some insight in your world, Naomi! We know all the YBF staff are so happy you're on our team!
