This week I pulled together some of my favorite ways to wear nautical inspired clothing. Going for a nautical look is both modern and classic! Plus, it's so easy to look like you just threw something together. Most often, nautical inspirations come in the form of cable knit sweaters, navy stripes, and wide-legged trousers, all of which are probably things you already have in your closet, making this trend even easier!
White Lace Dress
I adore how effortless this style looks. Throwing on a semi-sheer white dress screams "lounging on a yacht" without having to put much effort in your outfit that day. I would style it with open-toed wedges or if you didn't want a heel, go for a simple leather thong sandal. Pair your outfit with a tote bag, and statement sunglasses. I would definitely do beach-inspired waves or a high ponytail because it adds to the "effortless" look of the outfit.
Casual Striped Shirt + Jeans
Not quite warm enough for shorts or dresses? This outfit is perfect! Wide leg jeans are such a great way to look timeless, and pairing them with a boat-neck navy striped long sleeve makes the perfect nautical outfit. Definitely wear a Mary-Jane rounded toe heel or a classic loafer in cognac or brown. Tie the outfit together with aviators or tortoise shell sunglasses and an oversized tote.
Pinstriped Shorts + White TOp
Heading to the lake for the day? Or out running errands with lunch plans? This outfit is perfect. The pinstripe shorts add that touch of nautical inspiration without feeling like you need to be on a boat. I paired it with this adorable Bishop + Young lace up top. If you didn't want to do a lace up top, I would pair a white lace shirt, to add the same level of texture to the outfit. I paired it with Keds to continue the laid-back look, but sandals would be a perfect option too!
Straw Hat + Skirt
White straw hats look fabulous styled with a striped front-tied top paired with white lightweight skirt. Definitely stay away from tote bags with this outfit; instead, opt for a small cross body bag or a neutral oversized clutch (like seen above). Tie it all together will seersucker espadrilles or a dainty strappy sandal. Either way, you'll stay cool in the heat, while still looking chic!
White SKinnies + Striped Top
This everyday outfit is perfect for any spring/summer plans you have! White jeans look nautical themselves, so adding a black striped v-neck just brings the outfit to another level. To keep it it updated, add a fun printed shoe such as the Cheetah pumps shown above! A bright red lip and simple makeup ties the outfit together! If you're going out, use a smaller bag, but if you're running errands or need a tote, the look would look great with both.
